This will blow you away!
You know I hate to sometimes post when things are smooth, as that is just asking to get hammered with issues! But...I have to!
Some of you may recall that J2 withdrew from school last year in his junior year. He was 19 and a junior. His grades were poor and he was not attending. J2 has lived on his own for over a year now. He called me last week and asked if I would help him. J2 wants to go back to school and get his diploma! I gave him the contact numbers for Adult Education program at the high school. He has called and scheduled an appointment, on his own! Another new development - M1 has decided to join the Navy. He goes on Monday to sign the paperwork. I have mixed emotions on this one. I am happy about the choice about the military, just not right now. But, he now has a goal and a dream (and it is his). He is excited about it! Now, if we can just get him to finish high school! Ok...where is the hammer? ![]()

Awesome... enjoy this moment... but looking at the big picture, considering they're maturing / growing up... it sounds like they're trying to get things figured out...

Very cool. Nice to see that their brains are kicking in and they are maturing. (Now where is that kick me sign?)

That is GREAT, Indy! I love to hear about kids who start to finally figure it out. Particularly those kids who do this before the age of 40...!
![]() Now, tell us how you did it. ![]()

Indy,
Enjoy your boys goals. You deserve too as much as they do. I hear you about the military right now. Where you in the Navy too? I don't remember what branch you said you where in. My step brother was a Navy Seal. A very strong and determind man he is. I wish your boys the best and safe keeping.

That is very hopeful for us all to read. It's good to remember that they can make good choices down the road. Won't be as easy as making the right choice at an earlier stage, but nice to know it IS possible. Yeah!

Thread sidetrack
Just had to brag on my kids for a minute! It's been a tough few months, but we're hanging in there.
New ds who failed 3 classes last semester had all As and Bs this 6 weeks!!! Biodd was SOAR student this week (kind of like student of the month). Newdd took the 3rd grade TAKS (mandatory Texas skill assessment test) and got a 94 - only missed 2 questions. They're going to go ahead and give her the 4th grade TAKS in a month or so (she's in 5th grade). She's been on Concerta for her ADHD for one week - 4 days before she took the test and she'd missed the review the day before because she was home with Strep and hives. (No one knows why they took her off the ADHD meds in the first place). Mary mom to T(8)and K(10.5) since 11/06 mom to C(11.75) and D(13.5) caregiver to E(4.5) and M(7.5) "We may not have it all together, but together we have it all." |
