chat notes 2-13
I showed up at chat over an hour late. Due to my lateness I was appointed note taker.
I asked what I had missed in that first hour and never did get an answer. Hmmmm. There was a whole lot of nothing going on apparently. We discussed that fact that school has been closed due to snow and ice way too much lately. Way too much, we all agreed. Except of course, Suzberg and Kburch who live in the sunny part of the country. Many snowballs were thrown at them. Botox injections were mentioned. I learned alot about them since I knew nothing. All parents who have to do that deserve a hug. Sledding accidents were brought up. Joy's child went over a cliff and ended up in the ER. Never good. Skirbo wanted to sing the Barbie song. Many chatters have never heard of the Barbie song. This led to a debate on who should be outlawed first - Barbie or Barney. At this time, a web site was posted to look at BoohBah. Since I was unaware of BoohBah, I investigated the site. Scary what kids are viewing. I left early due to the flu. But sleep apnea was being discussed when I cut out. Oh - Lylac's Bronco is cleaned. What else?? Anyone?? |

Not much else happened after Lorraine left. Anika told us her story. Big hugs and prayers go out to her. Then chat decided that it wanted to boot me, so I went to bed. Oh and we learned two new words Waway and poing. Maybe someone else can give the definitions for them ,cuz Lord knows that I have no clue what they mean

Well, I came in right before Lorraine and left right after. She pretty much covered it.
The only thing missed was a brief discussion of a care package to send containing peas and grocery bags. ![]() As for definitions, I think those who missed chat should try and define our new words, Waway and poing.

Well, I'll try chatting Friday...
...anyone else had this issue? I think I give J way more attention than I realize I do. Whenever I get on the phone he becomes needy. I think he becomes jealous of the attention I'm giving to the person I'm talking to. Last Friday he was getting annoyed with me chatting on the computer. I was laughing and typing and reading and typing - and basically ignoring him. He was becoming needy, making noises, getting hyper, asking me any question he could come up with to distract me from the computer so I'd pay attention to him instead of the computer. Tuesday I was very sore from shoveling all day and I think J interpreted me making him go to school and not letting him stay home with me to help shovel as I didn't want him around me - so I chose to spend time with J and not chat, as I knew that wouldn't go over very well... ...I want to chat this Friday, so I already told him I was going to and he got a bummed face. I told him to get used to the idea and come up with something to keep himself busy during that time so he doesn't get ancy. I even told his in-home therapist and she tried to explain how Kerby needs to chat with his on-line friends and be able to talk on the phone with adult friends too - that Kerby needs "Kerby-time" but that doesn't mean he doesn't love you still... anyway, this is my latest issue with J -

How do you actually manage to get any time on the phone from which to be interrupted??
Between C and M, my phone never gets a break. i usually have to ask somebody to get off the phone if I need to use it. I'm considering putting in one of those payphones that charges by the minute. Good Lord, I'll be rich!!!!!!!

The payphone idea may be a good one... I have a cell phone that I exclusively use... they boys are to use the house phone...
...Mike, you mentioned how you get a cheap cordless for each kid to have in their room - I tried that - and just like you said about C's - ours never stayed charged... for some reason the boys cannot get the cordless phone back on the charger... this past weekend I found an old rotary phone at a flea market for $1. They boys had never seen one. I had to teach them how to put their finger in the hole of the number they wanted to dial... and wow, the ring is loud and it never looses its charge. and Skirbo, I have no parachutte pants...

Kerby, as long as you have pants, I suppose the lack of parachute pants speaks highly of your fashion sense.

Kerby,
I love the rotary phone idea! This weekend I bought a new phone, with 3 handsets, that had to be charged for 15 hours or something before use. So to tide us through during that time, I got out an old, "regular" (though not rotary) phone. It rang, and C said (with the ultimate teenage scorn) "what's this?" "It's a telephone, son, answer it. And no, it doesn't move, you have to stand there to talk." It was one of the shortest conversations he's ever had! ![]() |
