Why am I doing this??? Our son's adoption isn't final yet and I haven't really even looked for children because I don't want to "jinx" our son's adoption process. BUT I couldn't ignore this one I saw, so talked with DH and decided to send an inquiry. Now I know the caseworker is going to say we won't be a match -- if he/she ever responds...but I'm still going insane with the wait. I check my email almost hourly. I'm beginning to remember how agonizing it was to wait for the match with our son. Hmm. Do I want to do this again voluntarily??? Anyone got a pep talk already downloaded that they can post?? Until your other adoption is finalized, I really dont' think you're going to get much action. We were told that we COULDNT get another placement until finalization....I'd think that unless this child gets NO interest at all, they're not going to consider you......with it was more hopeful, but we tried too, before it was final We did have a few ask for our homestudies and say they'd get back to us after finalization...nobody did. Once he was finalized, we got matched right away. Be careful. I'm not sure this is the best move our family ever made. Good luck

I have sent out SEVERAL inquiries in the past week and have had several workers call me back. in several cases, the boy I inquired about has been matched but the website hasnt been updated. Once they find out what my age perameters are, all but one of them have asked if I could send a homestudy that they could have on file.

I really feel sorry for Ellen, my saintly worker. Shes been on vacation for almost two weeks (shes back next week) and I KNOW there are calls from workers on her machine who want copies of my "official" homestudy. She'll probably think I've gone insane. : ) Plus, Ellen doesnt know about the trip to Ohio yet. Then, she'll REALLY think I'm insane.

I am surprised that they had a visit with you without at least having your worker present.

I figured I'd inquire since I'd been looking at this same girl for awhile and the site had been updated...hopefully she's found a home, but you never know.

Our son's adoption was supposed to be final in April...now we've been told "June, at the outside". Uh huh. Anyway, like I said, we probably aren't the best match for her particulars, especially since they are usually vague at best on those little bios on the internet. There's a thousand and one reasons why it probably won't work out. Still....

Actually, they had asked if Ellen could be there when we met. unfortunately, Ellen is on a long-planned cruise in the Carribbean until next Monday and I didn't blame her for not wanting to alter her plans. The Ohio gang and Ellen are keeping in regular contact via telephone. In fact, before she left, Ellen gave them the name and number of our local ICPC rep to get info (Ellen has never done an out-of-state placement and isnt totally comfortable answering ICPC-related questions). They called the ICPC rep before they met with me.

Actually, the meeting itself went well. Contrary to what I expected, we got on very well on a personal level. Irregardless of the outcome, I look at this as a learning experience.
