Things are moving

She also said that she has entered us into the state registry. She told me about an adoption party that is coming up and said she was really excited that I was coming to a foster care luncheon tomorrow (an appreciation luncheon for foster care parents in our county). One thing she said that really excited me was "don't be surprised if you start getting calls soon for refferals. You are willing to accept many disabilities and that will help you find a match much sooner." I thought that was really wonderful information. SO we are very excited. We will keep you all up to date. Very Exciting, Ashley!!!
I'm happy that things are moving along for you guys. I'm surprised at how quick things can go once that homestudy gets out there. We are nervously waiting for "the file" on the sib group that I told you about. The sw mailed it on Friday, so we are hoping that it comes today!

(Sounds weird, but it makes us feel like we still have a couple of things to do before we can really be placed) Hope the file comes today, Ashley

Florida?
Ashley, aren't you in Florida? Or am I confused? What "kind" of children (I hate that term, but can't think of anything else) do you think you'd be the best family for? I have established some contacts here in Florida and I MAY be able to help move it along.

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep us posted! n/t
I know I am coming into this a little late, but I'm so happy for your great news!! As I told you, I've barely been able to keep up with the board (reading-wise), I haven't had the energy to post much (took 33 emotionally and behaviorally disturbed, underpriveleged school children to NYC yesterday by subway to see Suessical), but I had to say Congrats!! Did you find out if Maryland has a photolisting book and/or a reciprocal adoption agreement with Delaware? Keep us posted!
All the kids I found last week in the blue books were all ready placed :-( -- I guess no one had updated the books at that library... I'm attempting to get the Maplewood library to subscribe to the NY Photolisting for us and I will volunteer to go in and update the books. NY won't let individuals subscribe, and John and I don't want to depend solely on our caseworker to do the searching for us. Anyway, thanks for the news!

Actually Maryland

Of course it really depends on the child, would they fit into our family well, etc. We can accept two children and would be perfectly happy to have two and boy or girl would be fine. We are willing to accept most diagnosis. We aren't equipt to provide 24 hour nursing care and would like to only have a child who would be able to live independently or in a group home setting as an adult. We honestly couldn't really find anything that we were not willing to accept. There are some things that we would only accept if they were mild issues. And we aren't willing to accept a child who has a history of violence or harming other children in the home. We have a son who is our first priority to protect. We have a lot of education and experience with many things that we would encounter with a child. Hopefully we will find our child sooner than later, Ashley
