Update on adoption.

However the girls have decided to change their first names. They are 12 and 10(soon to be 11). The oldest is Alexandra - Alex ( my tomboy) and Samantha - Sammi ( my total girl). Talk about a crazy first night! I would call their name and they would turn around and say, that's not my name. I'm getting old fast. How am I ever going to remember this? :-)

The only bad thing is that we have been waiting for insurance for 9 months and Monday their medical cards came from Colorado and as of May 1 they lost them by moving into adoption status. So we have to wait for Colorado to buy them private insurance. It's a vicious cycle.

Subsidy.

With these three, they were legal risk because thier TPR was appealed. We got a foster care rate here in our state. They were free on January 8, which should have rolled us over into adoption status by February 1. But someone didn't get this paperwork to someone else and then that someone was fired and so on and so on. Excuses all the way. So we won't really get an adoption subsidy check until June. It took far too long. I wish that I could have been home with the kids far sooner.

You just never know. Every case is different. But one thing I will say is just ask for everything your child deserves. My kids deserved to have me at home with them. It is not a question of money. I always felt bad asking for the highest rate I could, then after a friend scolded me for that (you know who you are!) I changed my mind and got everything I could for them.

Good Luck.
