practice makes perfect...sometimes
well, my older boys violin lessons started to day, i think im going to be learning violin myself because i have to practice with him.
he LOVED it. i realize its his first day, but he couldnt wait to come home and practice, and that he did, for 20 minutes... he was pluking that violen like no ones business thank god we have french doors on our dining room, because i was able to 'shut' the door, and watch him.... so we call our dining room the music room and we need to keep the doors closed so he disturb us, i mean, so he wont be disturbed...what was i thinking... but so far so good, no frustration, was really enjoyin it and i also learned what an 'A' note is on violin. one of these days, i will tell you when i was in 3rd grade i took violin lessons also......oh the horror!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

You're a brave soul. I bought my son a recorder last week and he loves playing it and I'll I can think is where was my brain when I was buying this?
My kids took piano from my mom for awhile. They weren't good practicers(and who knew how easy one could destroy a piano with a baseball bat?!) Good thinking on the new music room. Hope that helps matters. Glad your son is so excited about his first lesson. It's nice to watch them enjoy something. |

i hate to be a pesimist (sp?), but every day i wait to see if the violin comes home in two pieces. i would be a fool to think that its always going to be this way. yea, practicing the A note for 25 minutes, is going to much different then doing a scale...lol. but as i learned to live my life with my kids, which is One day at a time.... if anything that i learned through this whole expeirence, is that no one can really predict any thing how my son is going to react to anything. yes, student of the week this week, next week i could be very easily getting those lovely phone calls again... there are no guarenttees with these kids... but im preachin to the choir here... but thanks for reminding me to put away the bats now that 'summer' is over....dont want to give him any idea you know, but then again, the more i think about it, if i take the bats away, im sure he will use the violin as the bat if he has a strong desirer to play baseball. what ever is handy at that moment is what he lives by... ![]() |
