K started Middle School last week.
I knew she didn't like it but we dont' have any choice so she is just going to have to deal. Got a call from the teacher on Fri PM saying she had had a rough couple of days. We talked about it all weekend and we told her it better be nothing but good reports or any life she had would be gone. So much for the pep talk. 11 am today the phone rings--come over to school to get her--the police have been called --may be pressing charges. She had to be restrained and then she was kicking and biting the teacher and aid. They got her settled down but she is suspended for 3 days (could have been ten). So we have a mini jail at our house. We came home and cleared everything out of the room. She is getting no choices re: food and only gets water to drink. She has to complete all her school work even though no credit will be given. She doesn't even get to leave the house unless it can not be avoided (like this evening when hubby had to take my stepdaughters glasses to her-(she forgot even when I asked her 3 times if she had them I told her she will be paying for the gas) and his aunt needed to be picked up at the hosp. and is staying with us. My grandma is also in the hosp. GRR!!! So K now has no life--as we cleaned out her room her ?was if she would have her things back by Christmas. I said it depended on when she could act like a 13 year old and earn them back. She has to prove to us that she was ready and that may take awhile. She received a lot of $$a t her adoption/birthday party this past Sat. It was going into savings but now will get to pay our "lost wages" for having to take off to stay with her. Any suggestions on what else we can do/say to make sure this is avoided again? We can NOT keep taking off work. I am giving serious contemplation to taking her to the jail to show her what could be if she doesn't get her act together. The police told her today next time she won't be released to me, but will go in the police car. I told her we would not be rushing down to pick her up either. I really was hoping to get a job in this school district someday--not looking too good for me! Thanks for reading my rant!

Biffer,
It makes no sense to me that the schools suspend the kids that do not want to be there. Without the biting and kicking, we had a similar situation. Fortunately, the school had a contract with a non-profit agency that took the kids, gave them a tour of detention, made them work at a homeless shelter, and lots of cleaning. Do you have any specialized childcare centers in your area? In our case we were able to utilize one of the foster homes from our agency before the non-profit agency was put into place. Then I would take her money and make her pay for her own daycare. You never did say what set her off. Hang in there, you are doing a good job! Take Care, Michelle

Has she done this before with school? Was wondering. Noticed your sig indicated finalization just occurred, is that right? My kids sorta retested ALL their bad behaviors after finalization just to double check things.
We've done jail practice. I also like lots of cleaning. Is there a therapist involved? |
