We finally got a caseworker in our county and he suggests that K MAY be eligible for Title IVE since she is receving SSI payments right now, is special needs, etc. I called the IN adoption subsidy woman and she said it sounds as though she is, and to have the county re-determine it.
Anyone know what is involved in re-determing Title IVE eligiblity? I know we can appeal but when? I also know we should not sign ANYTHING as all subsides must be agreed on BEFORE finalization. The reason we are hassling so much is we are having a H--- of a time getting Medicaid in OH for her right now and know title IVE will guarntee she is covered. The IN caseworker (bless her heart as the agency doesn't do too many adoptions and I think this is the 1st out of state) doesn't seem to know and is hedging a bit. She said the director does the AA but I am not sure if that is Title or just the IN state subsidy. The CW said that something in the computer in regards to the SSI (how it was entered) is not allowing it to show she is Title eligible. Can anyone give advice if we are spinning our wheels and where we should go next? I have basically told them we will not even talk finalization (K is eligible end of June) until this is all squared away. Thanks in advance!!

I found this info on NACAC. It might be useful as it also contains info on a contact person in Indiana.

Title IV-E
This makes the child eligible for Medicaid - federal - state to state vs. being in one state while eligible for another's state's Medicaid only which gets very complicated if you can even find a doctor in your state willing to process paperwork for another state's! ... which is worth the time qualifying for same ... search Title IV-E on web and you'll find info ... plus it qualifies them for the federal subsidy programs and more.
