I figured it was time to introduce myself, since I've been lurking for quite a while. I have to say that you all seem so genuine and supportive to each other, and to anyone who posts here, that I finally felt like it was safe to venture in :-).

Some of you may be familar with my story from the Friday night chats. My husband and I are at the very beginning of our journey -- we have signed up with an agency that only finds matches for older children -- and are scheduled to hand in our application and begin the mandatory training on February 3rd. We have been researching adoption for almost 2 years, and always planned to adopt. We recently decided that we will only pursue an older child adoption, and alternate between excitement and enthusiasm, and terror! It feels like the right path to both of us, but is very scary. I want to thank you all, because reading all your posts has really made me feel better and more positive about our chosen way to build our family.
