Children say the darndest things...
Dh and I went on a date today. (A highly romantic kind of adult social interaction, mainly involving grocery shopping sans children.) Anyway Ds(4) came to me as soon as we got home and asked where his sister was. I pointed to Dd, smiled and said, "There she is." Ds said, "No, Mama! Where BABY sister?"
With a series of questions and answers I was able to determine that he thought we were going to pick up a baby sister today! I'm not sure HOW that mis-communication came about, other than the last time Daddy and Mommy left we came back with a baby brother. (But we explained all of that...I thought!) I told Ds that God was in charge of that department, and if he (Ds) wanted a baby sister he needed to talk with God about that. So we'll see what his fertile little brain does with that piece of info. Personally, I'd like a bit more time before we have another little one.... LOL

The quickest way to get a child's attention is for the parent to sit down and look comfortable. I expected that there would be times like this - but I never thought they'd be so bad, so long, and so frequent. Pressure can turn a lump of coal into a flawless diamond, or an average person into a perfect basket case. I used to have a handle on life, but it fell off. |
