About those interstate compacts.....

There are many factors that come into play: home study complete, negotiation between the two states for such things as supervision, education, and medical. Basically, each state wants to know what the other is going to pay. If you have a foster care license, it "could" speed things up. I adopted a child from across the country and it took 3 months. With my first son who was from Ohio the ICPC paperwork was done in 60 days and he was home. With my youngest who was from Missouri it took over 5 months to get things done. It seems to depend on the state you are adopting from and the state in which you live and how long it takes the two states to agree on what is needed. Hopefully the states you're dealing with will work well together and your son will be home soon.
