thinking of adopting sibling group

You can email me privately (lukene@home.com), or post here. Thanks!

You Aren't Crazy

We are hoping to adopt a sib group of three also and I don't think you are crazy. Actually, we want more than that eventually but want to ease them in two or three the first time and then more children later on. I don't have any adoption experience to offer you but, we are foster parents and have taken sib groups before. I can say, go into it with your eyes wide open and learn all you can about the children before making your decision. Even under age six they can be very damaged from all kinds of abuse or neglect. I'm not trying to scare you by any means, but we have a two year old foster child right now who acts out sexually and is very aggressive due to the sexual abuse he suffered. In fact, every foster child we have ever had in our home has been sexually abused so apparently it is quite common. It also seems to be common, in our experience for these kids to constantly be hungry (more than other children) and will eat until they make themselves sick. This can be due to not always getting fed prior to coming to our home and also due to the "empty feeling" they have inside that they are trying to fill. I'm just telling you this so that you learn all you can about the kids so that you are able to get them all the help they need! You should be able to get medicaid and subsidies to help with the expenses you may incur to care for their special needs.

Good luck!!

At least we didn't think so! Then the following summer - about 5 months after the teenager came to live with us we took placement of a pair of 11 day african american twins that were 7 weeks premature and drug exposed. And then a year later than that we took two little girls close to my birth daughters age.

Ages now: 17 (adopted daughter)

        &n bsp; 11 (adopted son)

        &n bsp; 10 (birth son)

        &n bsp;  9 (adopted daughter)

        &n bsp;  8 (adopted daughter)

        &n bsp;  8 (adopted son)

        &n bsp;  6 (birth daughter)

        &n bsp;2 & 2 (adopted twin girls)

So - no we never intended to have 9 kids! And yes people definitely have thought we were crazy! Both at the time and now! But we love it!!

Good Luck!!

How do you ever find time to be on-line? Or shower for that matter?
