How many babies with heart defects waiting to be adopted?

How many children with heart defects only (no other known problems) are either given up at birth or are waiting to be adopted? I know that many defects that are not quickly handled at birth or shortly thereafter are fatal. What happens when the parents do not want to or cannot keep the child, but the child desperately needs medical intervention? Does someone have to choose "Compassionate Care" or are these babies saved somehow?
