It went great!!

done and turned in so we are good to go as far as proccessing our application. We still have to get physicals and cpr training but we have 4 weeks before that has to be completed.

The second part of the day was just an idea of what we might encouter. They showed a film and asked questions. Chris piped up several times ( he is not afraid to talk out loud...just read out loud! ) He really did have a good time. He told the other guys at our table about role playing, reading aloud and doing homework. They all complained so Chris felt at home!

The film that they showed did have some pictures of children who has suffered from abuse. I thought I was going to cry when I saw them. Sometimes I do get angry at my daughter but I have never been to the point of causing her harm nor could I ever imagine being to that point. Chris is more able to deal with the film without getting so distraught. He was a victim of verbal and emotional abuse as a child plus he has seen alot of abuse through his job. Chris does emergency flood service (carpets) for a living. Alot of times he has to go to low income housing to perform his job. Once he was standing at the doorway of an apartment there was a little boy outside looking at his mom. His mom was yelling at her boyfriend when the man ran outside and knocked her to the ground and started beating her. Chris called the cops but the mom didnt want to press charges. Chris also found a three year old girl in a convienent store wearing only her panties. He found out that the little girl lived in the apartment complex behind the store. Anyway he took her to the manager's office and they said that she runs around like that all the time. Chris called the cops and CPS was called in. The parents were passed out in their bedroom and had no idea where their child was. Those are just a few of the many stories that he has told me. In all reality I think that Chris will be alot more prepared in handling the children that we adopt more then I will.

Anyway sorry for the long story. I will let you know what happens next week.

class

Hi Sondra!!
I am glad to hear that everything went so great!!
I had class #6 tonight. I have 4 more to go ( they are fun, but I will be glad when its over).
Your class is a little bit different from ours, we dont have to take cpr classes and so far we havent seen any videos.
Are you required to have a criminal background check ( fingerprinting)? Currently that is our biggest headache.
It is hard to get to the police dept. during the designated hrs. They were passing around pictures today of kids available for adoption in GA. It is so exciting.
It just dawned on me tonight how quickly things are moving.
I need to figure out what color I am going to paint the babys room. We are wanting a boy or a sibling group ( boy and a girl or 2 boys ).
Well I guess I better stop rambling on.....
God Bless.
Gloria

the class....

We have to get physicals done but that shouldn't be too hard.

We also have to take CPR classes but they are going to instruct those classes since our CPS instructor is also licenced to teach CPR.

Then last but not least, we have to get our dogs vacinated. Chris has a good contact that has a mobile vacine clinic. She wants us to bring the dogs down Sunday so she can have our records updated. Luckily Chris has a cargo van so we can take all 5 dogs in one trip. That will be an adventure huh? LOL!!

Last weekend we went and bought a little safe so we could lock up all of our medicine. From what I was told, that is one of the important things they look at when they do a homestudy. I guess we will soon see.

Oh I dont think I have told you, but Chris and I are wanting to inquire about three girls ( ages 9,10,11 ). I talked to their SW last week and she is awaiting our approval. We havent done their rooms yet ( I dont want to until I know for sure that Chris and I are a match with this group ) Right now we have a double bed in Tawni's room and a bunk bed in the other bedroom so technically we have the space, but we plan to re-do the bedrooms if we get matched with this group.

Anyway, I better get to work. Talk to you soon!!

Sondra
