Subsidy
This subsidy thing is a surprise to me too! I tried to back up on the list to find out exactly what it is but I'm still confused. What exactly is it, how long does it last, who is it given to and why? Is it based on your income,is it required, does it have to be used for a specific reason, Help!!!

Good News
Hi, and welcome.
Subsidy is a wonderful thing. Its a little different in every state but, basically, regardless of your income, it provides your family with all the cash you need to adopt a foster child. Go to my new site at http://www.afteradoption.org and click on the news link about the recent California legal settlement for lots of info. It goes to age 18 and is limited only by the amount that the child would have received if the child was still in foster care. Lots of states and counties try to limit the benefits but all fail if a family appeals through the Fair Hearing process. Believe me, government support does not get any better then this! Graham.
