Re:Ontario Adoption Law
Don,
I've been plagued by your post for over a week, I've also had the flu and a lot of spare time to think about things that has no impact on my life, not to remotely suggest that I don't have a life and am that I'm going crazy getting my life and house in order for my soon to arrive kid!!!! Anyway, if there is going to be a change in the Canadian law then why don't you get your tuosh in gear and lock into a U.S. kid, or it may not be as complicated as you are expecting. You know I never thought about adopting in Canada... Could you give me a web sight... now I'm curious... Before anyone says anything, I know that there won't be a subsidy, but the subsidy came as a surprise after I started my adoption process. Yes it can and will help (I'm adopting as a single person on a teacher's salary) I could probably qualify for foodstamps, but too scared to find out :-)))

They seem to think International adoptions only mean for kids from overseas. But, on the other hand, the provincial gov't office tells me USA born kids are ok too- its a political rat race. I somehow doubt I'll get it done in time. I've been told that some agencies will accept a biography- and if they feel you're a match for a child, they can contact the social worker directly and request they do a homestudy ASAP --- but, I haven't found an agency willing to accept a biography and move on it from that angle. There aren't any Canadian sites with photo listings if that's what you were looking for? Seems our strict Confidentiality Laws keep Foster kid's pictures off the internet! (I'm assuming youl ive in the USA ).
