questions
How long did it take after you were selected as the adoptive parents, to get to communicate with your child or children over the phone or in person?

talking to daughter
It should be fairly soon. Your caseworker should be setting up the first meeting. Some factors may be, if she has been prepared/told she is being adopted, the schedule of the foster parents, or if TPR (all the court dates) have been completed. I was selected in February, but did not meet my daughter until after the final TPR, and her final visit with her birthmom, so it was about a 6 weeks after I was told I was selected. However, I was aware of the reason. Once you meet her, and have established a connection with her and the foster parents, you can call when ever it is OK with the foster parents.

For our first adoption there was a 2 week mandatory waiting period before we could have any contact with our DS. For our second adoption that two week mandatory waiting period had been cut down to one week -- BUT our DS's cw had to do an out of state placement and had some personal days in there somewhere, so we ended up waiting about a month!!! I did have contact with his foster mom, and she sent me pix and emails, but it was such a hard time.
Different states have different statutes and administrative rules, as well as agency policies and cw and foster parent's schedules to coordinate.

In both adoptions we met our kids within a week of being notified we were chosen.
