One thing that has helped to keep me from going totally ga-ga is that I have a very close friend who has a son whom we joke is my DS's "twin". They are both very similar in temperment and behavior patterns. I know that she didn't consume alcohol during her pregnancy, nor did she use drugs of any sort and has not neglected her children. She's very careful in all areas of life, eats organic whole foods, etc. Very stable homelife, her DH does things with the kids daily...the good things go on and on.
Soooo, sometimes, as Freud is attributed as saying, a cigar IS just a cigar. Or, in plain English, sometimes a child is just being himself. This doesn't mean one takes a hands off approach, but rather that a little more thought and research might go into how best to parent that little one. A few more gray hairs, too! LOL I've been looking into various ways of dealing with the issues we see. As I mentioned before, we are going to be using SI therapy, a FASD support program, but I'm also looking into changing DS's diet. I think we're going to do more whole foods, less refined foods, avoid additives, dyes, preservatives, etc. and see if there is some improvement. (Feingold Association for the diet component. Knew a little girl that had good results with her behavior using this program.) All of these approaches will not harm DS and are things that we can do proactively at home. In fact, we are hoping that as we fine tune our parenting habits, as well as change our diet, the whole family will benefit! LOL

Not sure about the cigar part though....I'm sure its not what initially sprang to mind.....freudisms never are, or so my mother told me....lol.
Sensory Integration is a strong suit I believe. You want maximum learning capability and that's the gold standard right now. We all wish you a happy and active summer. Just enjoy each strength you see, day by day! Graham
