Smile Becoming a Foster-Adoptive parent

Hello all from SC. I am in the Columbia area. My husband and I are in the process of becoming Foster-Adopt parents. We have done the classes, turned in all the paperwork. Our fire inspection in Feb. 5th. We are waiting for the Dhec Inspection, then the homestudy. We are hoping to foster, then adopt an infant-toddler, any race, boy OR girl. Any advice or comments? Please email me at blau5@yahoo.com.

Birthmom in the Greenville/Spartanburg area here... Was supposed to be on the parent panel at the Adoption Expo that HCsMom mentioned but had to go out of town for a family thing instead so hopefully I can make the next one.

Hey, OpenAdoptionMom
My family was on the parent panel and it was a great experience. There was a good crowd there at the EXPO and a good many booths set up. Are you active with ACES organization?

Take care, HCsMom

Columbia, SC here too. We have a son we adopted about 2 years ago as well as 2 bio sons. We are home study approved for a little girl/twins/siblings 0-4 years of age. Looking at both private and state adoption options.

Unhappy Still waiting

We have been approved to foster adopt through DSS since April 07. We are hoping to adopt a child from the ages of 6 and under, any race, either gender. We have had NO calls yet. We have inquired about at least 4 children on the waiting child websites but are usually told that the foster family is adopting, they are being reunited with family, or that they are "bonded closely to the foster family". This wait is so frustrating, especially after reading so many posts on this site about people getting baby after baby placed with them! I am wondering what the problem is with our wonderful state of SC? Anyone have any comments??

We're from Simpsonville, SC. We are hoping to adopt domestically - we'd like a semi-open adoption, and we're open to caucasian or biracial children, and would love it if we got a baby girl!
