I was born and adopted in Charleston, SC in Jan. of 1969. I am currently looking for my birth parents. I only have information on my birth mother......name was Patricia Hines (not sure of the spelling). From what I understand, my adoption was done thru an attorney.

I'd love to help if I can
Hi Margaret,
My name is Amanda and I was born in Greenville, SC. I was born in 1972 so I don't know if that matters any. Mine was a private adoption, I think. The truth is I don't know much about my adoption except that my birth mother was 16 and that's it. My adopted mother doesn't know anything more either. At least she said that she doesn't. I've contacted the lawyers that handled my adoption and wouldn't help me at all. I also have no idea of where they even met my birthmother. It's quite interesting. I'll leave you my email and phone number just in case you'd like to contact me. Amanda Wilhelm sura26@aol.com (718)275-4461 |

I was given up for adotion in March or 1960. I found my birth mother in 1994. I also found out I had a sister. I knew I had a brother that was also given up for adoption. We have not been able to locate him yet.
The reunion has been alittle shakey, but it is now beginning to get good. I was blessed to find my biological grandmother first and was blessed by God to be able to spend about 5 months with her before she passed away. Would be happy to talk with you at anytime. |

Margaret1960... Are you still seeking info on adoptees from SC... I was born in Columbia in Nov 1974... Have contacted Childrens Services and received non-ID info about birth parents... If info is correct, both parents were college students in Columbia at time - possibly both at same school |

Adoptee, Columbia
Born in Columbia, SC, 9/7/75
Adopted in Columbia, SC, 9/12/75 I have a notarized, "official" birth certificate, which is cut off at bottom under line that reads something like "Confidential and Sensitive Medical Information Below". That's all I have of it, and have been unsuccessful in attempts to get a copy of the full document. I've been unsuccessful in locating any information regarding birth parents. The one thing in this regard that I *have* been able to narrow down is that the adoption was apparently handled through an attorney (whose name I believe I now know) and not through DSS -- DSS confirmed their non-handling of it in a letter. I've called every "Department Of ... " that I can think of! It's only been a few weeks ... I don't yet believe that I'm actually doing this (searching) ... and am pretty nervous, but wanted to post to what you were looking for. |
