Question How do I get my records?

Hello, I am trying to find out how I can get a copy of my adoption records.
I was born in the state of california and in fostercare in the state and of Missiouri.
I was also adopted in Missiouri my adoptive parents do not support me knowing anything about my adoption but I belive I need to know more than I do.
I was adopted at the age of 8 and to my knowlage my case was a sealed case due to it being an abuse and neglect case.
Is there a way for me to get my records without paying a huge fee?
All my searches on missiouri records I have yet to find a page that tells me sealed records can be obtained.
I would really like these records as I belive whatever is in them could greatly effect the outcome of my application to become a foster/ adoptive parent myself.

I'm trying to do the same thing. I'm sure laws vary from state to state. Here in Ohio they have a cut-off as to when you can receive your records. anything prior to 1964 can be obtained. 1964 to 1974 are sealed. After 1996 once the adoptee is 18 can obtain with parental consent, once 21 can obtain alone. You can petition probate court with a $50.00 fee to release any information only if birthparent has signed the same release. If birthparent hasn't signed you can only get non-identifying info. I'm still trying. Laws are in the works to be changed to make it easier for everyone to get info. I want it for medical background issues. Keep trying and don't give up hope.
