Unhappy New to this

Hello everyone,
I am new to the foster parenting thing and I am having the hardest time getting to know other foster parents. I am open to suggestions on visitation and other things. Right now I really really really just need someone to talk to.

hi shondel

my name is sue, i can't believe no-one has replied to this before now, i thought community was the name of the game here. anyway, what state are you in, how many placements have you had, how new are you? we have been licensed for over 2 years, i consider that pretty new. please excuse the fact that i am not capitalizing, i am a one handed typist when my beautiful foster baby is with me. write back, lets talk.

New to this

Hi, I am new to this also. My husband and I have had a very bad experience with DHR. I wont get into the long drawn out story but we took a boy in from DHR and we were not foster parents, just knew the child. We have been through a nightmare with DHR. They did however set up classes for us and also with the Foster Parent Association. The first meeting was cancelled and they did not even call to let us know. They dont call to let us know when visitations are cancelled. They dont call and let us know anything but anyway, try to contact The Foster Parents Association in your area and...good luck!

i met foster parents through my son's daycare. if your foster children attend daycare, see if there are other foster children in the center and network with those parents. i also met foster parents through training classes.
