Childcare expenses

I am starting the process to become a foster/adopt parent and I work outside the home. I have two other children that go to daycare.

I have a question??

Before finalization is there county/state/federal money available for childcare for the fost/adopt child???

Yes, some states work with the daycare to accept state foster rates and pay them directly. Other states use vouchers and you must use a licensed facility that accepts them. I would speak to you current daycare and ask if they have anyone on state aid and how that person pays the cost of childcare. Some people use facilities that charge more than the state's accepted rates and you would have to pay the remainder out of pocket. Also, if the children are under 5 they should qualify for WIC and Medicaid until adoption is finalized. Each state is different with what type of stipend if ANY they pay after adoption. My state pays none unless you adopt 3 or more from foster care OR if the child is categorized as a "special needs" child.

Each state differs on all of this and many counties within the same state will differ so you will need to check with your county office to find out real answers.
