Question for SWs
I am currently a visitying resource for a 13 yo boy. We have been his visiting resource since March - he is a great kid. There have been some great strides with him - school work has improved, behavior (everywhere) has improved, he is a hard worker and loves to work with dh, I could go on an on... We start our foster classes on July 20th so we will not be able to foster him until the class is over in mid Sept. This is my question:
We are being asked to transport to visits and supervise visits as the parents cannot visit without supervision. Should we be doing this since we are not certified? I worry about the bf trying to leave with fs but this is just a gut feeling - he has not done anything in the past to indicate this behavior and I do not know him very well. Also, fs has been in care for about 28 months. Why hasn't he been TPRd? Originally, he was scheduled for TPR in October 2006 but last week I found out that it has been changed to April 2007. (neither parent has done any of the court required stuff - rehab, found transportation, gotten a job, or a place to live. So what gives?)
