Question on Kinship Adoption
I have an adopted child. If her siblings are removed from bmom's care, would I be considered "kin", and given preference for placement? BTW all "blood" relations are unable and/or unwilling to care for kids. Siblings in NM, I'm in MO...
Thank you! |

We adopted 2 boys and when their newborn brother came into care, I was considered kin. There was a possible aunt, but they told me that I was at the same level as her. It was a plus that I had the siblings. I have heard of other states not considering this once the adoption went through. I am in Cali. Good Luck,

Yes, you will be considered, in fact you will be given preference as they usually try to keep siblings together.
