It is not a problem at all for a single woman to adopt a baby boy. I am a YOUNG single mom that adopted although I have a girl. Best wishes.

Are you wanting to go through the state or a private agency?

i just started looking up info about adoption. when i found this site, i starting reading alot of things. i'm not to familiar with things such as open and closed adoptions or state or private. my plan is to start reading up on stuff now so that when i try to adopt 3-5 years from now i'll know a lil something. what did you two do?

i am a foster parent and one of my foster children became available for adoption, so i adopted him. we have an open adoption arrangement with his bmom and bgp's and bsibs. it is a state adoption, though.

You will learn alot just reading here. Explore the State system in your area and private agencies, weigh the pros and cons of each, take money into considereation. with a foster/adoption it will cost little or nothing.

My license was completed at the end of Aug 2001. My daughter, in the picture, came to me 20 days later. It was 25 months before I got to adopt her.
I do not find single parenting hard at all. In fact, I think it would be harder with another person. Single I can just make the decision without having to debate with someone else. It does take family support. My family is great!

i got my first foster placement 2 months after i became a foster parent, she stayed for 2 weeks. 3 months later, i got my second foster placement, she stayed for 10 months. 3 weeks later i got my son, but did not know he was going to be available for adoption for almost 1 1/2 years, and his adoption was not final for 2 1/2 years after his placement with me.
at times it is hard being a single parent, cuz there is no one just right there to relieve you if you really need a break, there is also not someone there to share the cute little things they do. but, i get to make all the decisions, i get all the hugs and kisses and i get to be a mom regardless of whether or not i am married. you need good friends and family to support you and it makes everything a little easier.

i was 26 when i became a foster parent and 29 when i adopted my son. i own my home, but that is not a requirement, i have a college education, not a requirement and a full time job. you have to prove that you can provide for another person, i don't believe you have to have a certain income. i definatly do not consider myself to be well off, i work for a non profit agency. however, the state of mo, provides daycare subsidies for children adopted throught the foster care system and without that i would have a tough time making ends meet.

last question for today
do you think it's harder to adopt a newborn or a child from the ages of 1-5 |

Well, more people want newborns and there are many more older children so 1-5 would be easier.
