leave of absence

Leave of Absence
No, adoption agencies do not require that you take a leave of absence. But, it will be in the best intrest of you and your adoted child if this is done. This will give the child a greater and longer time to bond with you. It is now the law that an employee can take without penalty up to 12 weeks off when adopting or after having a child. This is the federal leave act. Now, this leave is wihtout pay. Some work place will let an employee take the regular 6 weeks off under maternity leave with pay, depending on the amount of time one has on the books. It's to map these things out before the time comes.
