I am lesbian, I have legal custody of my grand daughter. Her parents are willing to let me adopt her. I am afraid the legal system will take her from us when they fine out I'm gay thru the home study.What is the safest way to go about this adoption? and is it going to be cheaper since I already have the baby she is 2 years old now i've had her since birth.

I say if they turn you down because of your sexual orientation then contact an attorney. This child needs your love more than she needs to learn about discrimination. If you have already proven your ability to care for and love this child, there should be no problem, in my eyes. Of course, I am a bi-sexual female who is currently in a long-term monogamous relationship with a female and trying to adopt myself so I may be a bit one-sided. Anyway, my opinion is if they don't let you have her, fight it will have you have. I'm sure there is a Gay and Lesbian rights organization out there somewhere that will help you.
