Procrastination!!!!
Hello everyone..
I haven't been on here for a while but that's because I have fallen back into my habit of procrastination...I start off strong and then "think" my way out of maintaining momentum... I have been going back and forth with reasons why I should "wait" to pursue adoption such as "I want to be really financially secure"..."I want a house"..."I'll wait until I am xx yrs old"... I know that unless I hit a lottery that I will NEVER have enough money (or it will seem) but I KNOW that I can provide for a child and my household... I know I don't need a house because I have friends with kids (and relatives) who live in an apartment just fine... I just turned 37 but wanted to wait until I was 40 knowing that no one is promised tomorrow.. I don't know what's wrong with me..I know I want a child and I know I will be a great parent...I just can't shake the "procrastination" monkey off my back... Did anyone else have this problem? If so, what did you do get over it and pursue your dream??? HELP!!! ![]() |

Start some of the process girl. Look at agencies and programs. Start seeing what you need to gather. Start an adoption fund. I personally have sooo many things on my plate and I am also a big procrastinator. I just try to do one thing each day that brings me that little step closer to the process. For me its setttling on an agency and a program, then selecting a homestudy agency. If you have the money and your ready to start then start. Do what feels right for you.

Thank you for the response...
You are right..I tend to think of everything I need to do instead of just chipping away at it...I need to make a plan and work on it...one thing at a time.. I will write out a list and will start plugging away...by this time next year I plan to be very close to being a mom!! Thanks...I wish this board were more "active"...especially with those of us just starting the process....having someone hold my hand would be nice!! |
