New to the forum

Hi! My name is Kelly and I'm hoping to adopt in the next couple of years. I'm concerned because I am young
(22) and single. However, I've had experience with children throughout my life. I help raise my niece since her mother left. Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself!

Good luck and congratulations on getting started with the adoption process. There are a lot of people with tons of knowledge and experience to share, and you'll find lots of help and support here too.

It is always exciting to see new people who want to adopt. Best of luck on your journey.

Thank you for welcoming me! I do have a question- If I am about to move, will that postpone anything with the adoption due to residency requirements?

You would need to find out what your state residency requirement is. I don't think all of them have them. I moved to NC just 6 months before I started the adoption process and it turned out that NC required a 6 month residency. If you are staying in state then it shouldn't be an issue. However, if you move during or after the homestudy is complete then it will need to be updated to include that information.
