Just wondering how social workers tend to view singles with more than a few pets.

What's more than a few?

I am single and have three dogs......it wasn't even brought up, except to ask the breeds. There was some concern about my terrier mix, until I made it clear that whichever terrier she got her blood from, it wasn't a pit bull terrier.

They, obviously, wanted to see the dogs - probably because how I interact with them would say a lot about how I would care for and interact with children. I really thought there would be concern since my dogs are all large, but nothing was ever said. I have a 2yo fs, 9 week old fd and am getting a 10 yo fd this week. Obviously, it doesn't stop them from sending me kids!!

I am single parent with two dogs. One Sheltie and on shep/lab mix. All I was ever asked for was the shot records. No other questions.

I am single with 2 cats and my social worker just asked to see them during the homestudy and if their vaccinations were up to date. I didn't need to give proof though.

If you're like the cat lady on the Simpsons, you'll run into trouble. But if, like most people, you have clean, vaccinated, friendly pets in a safe home, it's not a problem. If the number of pets in your home outnumber the number of people living in your city, you have too many.
