Older single parent foster/adopt, DCFS

Any older single parent foster/adopt (DCFS), relative or nonrelative folk out there?
I've seen a flyer in nearby small town library for a regional AARP (55 and older) grandparent group, but that seems only relative foster/adopt. Is there anything else?
In my part of the state (NV), most or all of the foster/adopt groups and meetings are in the big city, c. 65 miles away.
Any other rural/semi-rural folk out there?
Are these conditions similar in other states?
