Sibling Rivalry or Protection?

Sibling rivalry is the jealousy, competition and fighting between brothers and sisters. It is a concern for almost all parents of two or more kids. I have been reading a bit on this, and it does NOT happen with my adopted bio siblings at all!
I have 4, the oldest is not a bio sibling (but also adopted), and he and his adopted brother have the rivalry alot. They can bicker over the color of the sky, but the youngest 3 are 1/2 bio, and they will give in to the others before any animosity begins.
I am wondering if anyone else out there who adopted siblings, has seen a protectiveness in the sibling group?

lol....well, i would count your blessings. i have two boys, siblings, who fight fight fight....

but then they could play toegether for hours without a problem.

so, for my kids, who are full siblings, constantly fight. but the bond between them is very very strong.

so, my opinion, just count your blessings....

I so agree Dadfor2 about counting my blessings! I do indeed!

I guess I was pondering if when adopting siblings one of the kids was more the protector, and kept things on an even keel. My 2nd son (the oldest of his bio siblings) is the peacemaker. He will give away anything he has to bring calm to his twin sisters. They don't take advantage of it, but in a small way do the same with all the kids in the house.

I fought my brother in and for everything, at 42(me) and 39(him,but he will be 40 this year lol), I am amazed to see such loving and giving in siblings. lol

I think in my situation the oldest is very protective. Z is more protective of L today then he was 9 months ago when they were placed with us. For us age is a huge factor as L is only 17 months. Since being placed with us L has gained more of a personality and is able to play with his older brother. I think that as they get older the protectiveness will increase.

While Z is very protective of his brother he also deals with alot of sibling jealousy. I think much of the jealousy also deals w/ the age factor and the fact that everyone wants to see the cute baby but seems to forget or overlook the cute older brother. They also came from a home with a foster family that only wanted to adopt L, and Z is very aware of this.

I can't wait to see more replys to this.

As my 4 natural children ooo they fight,

There isn't a day that someone doesn't hate someone. *which I battle that word in my home, there is no room for that four letter word anywhere*

Then mine are girls... so the other 4 letter word... "Nail" but only deadly when plural... NAILS! they are girls who groom them so ya... oo I completely understand the meanig of "cat" fight between girls.

2 am this morning, I hear blood screams... and jump out of bed and run.... My 12 yo was snoring, and my 10 year old decided to "Cushie" her.... as in bomb her from the top bunk with her cushie as hard as she could toss it down.

A Cushie if you don't know is similar to a mushy bean bag filling. We all got cushies for Christmas.

I just about got knocked over by my 10 yo as she ran down the stairs laughing.... saying BUT IT WORKED!!!

Then my 12 yo ran into me, then pushed past me in dead heat chase, with cushie in hand.. I was a bit amazed and half awake as I heard furnature being knocked over, lots of giggling and gathered my senses, as my husband said what **** is going on it's after 2?
As the cat went ripping down the steps mewing cause he was woken up, chasing the kids, and of course our 1 year old dane pup woke up said OH YAY!! it's play time???!!! and after the cat.

So I went down grabbed the cushie off my 12 year old, bashed the 10 yo in the head with it and said THERE YOUR EVEN, GO TO BED! All the while my 10 yo is still hysterically laughing. Just settle back in bed... "MOM!!! she won't give me my cushie!!"

These guys were asleep when I went to bed, how they were so wide awake at 2 am I don't know. But this is one of the fun battles, that I laugh about he next day.

We had a roll around fist fight one time, and I put a stop to that pretty fast. I had at home 4 sis/1 bro at my dad/step mothers, and they battled just as much or worse, my husband the baby of 8 said they were all ways battling to.

My children have adopted friends, and foster friends, as they call them. Some bicker and battle with their biological siblings, some do not.

So I am rather curious to seeing and hearing more on this.
