There is so much to learn and understand when you look into adoption. So many rules about how much money you make and how big your home is. It's so unfair to those who would make wonderful parents, who have so much love to give but are denied because someone decided they do not make enough money! We are talking about people who make about 76,000.00 a year.

Go through DFCF or forien adoptions. I personally think private agencies are a little corrupt in the way they make you pay so much for a child.

Are you saying you have been turned down by an agency because $76,000 isn't enough income? Because it is, assuming you're not living beyond your means.
I see no reason why that income would prevent you from adopting if you have the money for the fees. Perhaps if you give us some more details we can help you figure out what the problem is. |

In our state they look for families that are committed to truly being parents. I don't think money should be the main focus but it is a reality because everyone will need to be taking care of, but with good faith God always makes a way for his children.

I'll tell you something. I was adopted by parents able money wise but got thrown away. I am all alone in the world now and It's scarey and lonley. I wish they would have thought it threw and let someone who really cared adopt me. Like you. Money does not mean a thing. I think there are so many people that they use that to shrink the list. Maybe try a private adoption.

ONLY $76K?
That is insane! My husband and I only make about $35K a year combined. We have been trying to get pregnant for 3 years now with no luck (I have fertility issues). We are frustrated in the fact that we'll be in our 40s before we can afford one addoption! We know which agency we want to go through, but it's so expensive! I don't understand how people who oversee adoptions could think that the requirements in place regarding being "allowed" to adopt would be any indication of how good or bad the parent and/or family may turn out to be for that child. The reason I say that is because look at all the cases where bad things happen in adoptive families and those were people who were able to afford or meet all the requirements to adopt! It's insane! But I'm trying to trust God everyday that he will place a beautiful baby in our arms when we're ready. I just wish that day was today.

Don't give up faith....that's all we have in this insane place called our world!!! My husband and I were blessed with three beautiful boys and I thank God everyday for them. I always wanted a daughter and my husband and I are in the steps and it 's sooooo close, but now the foster mother is trying to stop us from our dream...God already has a plan and I know it will work out!!! So, I guess I'm saying hang in there and give it truly to God!!!He has your child already picked out for you and your time come hold on!!!! mzbrown1 |

Thanks for support
Thank you for the supportive words.
I appreciate it. Sometimes it's easier to deal with because I work at a daycare. So I get to play mommy all day and get paid for it. Plus, I'm STILL in college (it's taking me forever to finish). So I'm trying to rationalize to other people when they ask why we don't have kids yet with the fact that I'm still technically in college. It's hard being friends with other couples in their 20s because they're either trying to get pregnant, or not wanting to get pregnant yet, or are pregnant, or already parents. It's more of an issue for me than for my husband though. But I'm working right now on learning to be content in life. I've always known adoption was something I was supposed to do in life (a calling if you want to call it that). So, if that means waiting 10 more years for a baby, then the only way to do that is through God. |

You know I listen to you and I know exactly how you feel. I always knew I wanted to be a mother and I knew one day I would adopt a child. I am reaching for my dream now and I encourage you to stay strong and support your husband's feelings as well....it will get easier for him. My husband is the same way but we have come to an agreement, and he is truly understanding this process and I think because we are going through the steps together, he see's this is the right thing to do. So you hang in there and stay strong. You ask God to send you the child that is suppose to be in your family and then you watch him work!!!! Know that it's not up to you...wait on him and you will be blessed!!!I promise. Good Luck and God Bless. Angie...mzbrown1 |

I know where I am from, the only issue with money is whether you can or cannot afford to raise a child in your home. Other than that, there is no discrimination. Obviously, if you don't have enuf money to pay your monthly bills and add the expense of a child, then they will probably tell you you need to save a lil b4 you try adopting. Other than that, I think if you have the love to give, that anyone will be willing to work with you. Put your trust in the Lord and pray. He will answer your prayers and your dreams will come true. wow! only $76K? we make combined only $65K! we live in los angeles, ca and it's very $$ to live here. we are looking at grants & loans to help with adoption fees. sure raising a child is $$, but everyone struggles(unless you're a millionaire) LOL
the point is this, the emphasis should be on who will give the child(or children) the love, respect, morality & sprituality they need in life, ALONG with basic needs. we are scared to death of being turned down, but we know for a fact that our financial situation will improve, just not at this moment... -deirdre |
