Help with Adoption File Request Letter

The other thread just reminded me of something I've been wanting to ask all of you:

Has anyone ever drafted a request for an adoption file that was SUCCESSFUL?
Or do you know anyone who did?

If so, could you let us know exactly what were the magic words?

I know they need the information (names/dates) in order to find the file. But what else?
Citing FOIA would likely get us laughed at, I suppose?

If anyone got turned down when they asked for their a-file, I'd like to hear about that, also.

Good ideas and valid advice welcome!

~Bliss

Hi!
Did you get any help? I've been wanting to petition the court for my A-file but also want help on the wording for my request. Any suggestions? HELP!!!

I did get a little help, as a matter of fact. A VERY wonderful person told me that medical need -no matter how insignificant it may seem- is a good thing to note in the request.

Haven't heard back on it yet.

Other than that, I was on my own -and, no, I didn't cite FOIA

Good luck with your request. Let us know how it's going for you.

What the heck????

This posting was linked to in the Adoption Buzz section of the Adoption Weekly e-mag. Good grief! With all the awsomely-cool postings on these forums, why the heck would they link to this 'nothingness' of a post? Too funny!

Sherr's reunion post would have been a MUCH better choice! That should be required reading, imho
