Reunion Story

Reunion Story and song "The Shining Star".

The song "The Shining Star" was a song demo done for my wife who was adopted. When you marry someone who was adopted, you realize the emotions and try to be there for them. In researching, I found that most adopted children face the same three questions; Why did my mother give me up? Did she love me? Was it rape? When we purchased our first computer, we registered my wife in some of the big registries in hoping her biological family would be looking for her. As the years faded, it didn't look like it would ever come true. God works in mysterious ways because one day at work, my manager hired a new employee. I was speaking to this lady when the subject of adoption came up and I told her my wife was adopted. She told me I needed to find my wife's mother. I told her it was impossible because her records were sealed and we tried for many years. She would not let up until I agreed to try. I began looking through the papers the adoption agency gave her on general background information. There was nothing there I could use. I started searching for anything on adoption in her papers and began searching registries online. I searched through thousand's of names with no success. I then placed her name in some of the registries and finally told my wife what I was doing. I did not want to get her hopes up. The following day, I received an e-mail from one of the registries we put her name in. The lady was happy I was trying to help my wife and wanted to help us. The next morning, I received another e-mail with her mother's maiden name and married name. My wife was to afraid to write her a letter so I wrote one for her. My son helped me type it up and mailed it to her. Her mother read the letter and could not believe it and called her right away. It was an emotional time for everyone. In 2005, my wife and children traveled to California and spent two days at her home. My wife keeps in touch with her through e-mail still today. Her mother was 73 years old and my wife was 50 years old when they met for the first time. This song was written to capture that moment in her life when they would meet for the first time. For those searching, never give up hope.
