Has anyone done this and how did it turn out?

My bson will be 29 on June 2nd and this will be our first birthday that we get to celebrate together. We've been in reunion for about 9 months now.

So today I sent him 29 birthday gifts with instructions on what one to open and when to open it. He doesn't know that I am doing this and I'm not sure how he will react to receiving the gifts.

It was hard to pick out 29 gifts, keep the cost down and have the gifts mean something with out getting to sentimental. The 29th gift was a scrapbook that I made of his family history/ tree.

Has anyone done this and how did it turn out? Did they like it, hate it or think it was stupid?

I would love it. I am 3 months in and am planning on sending 33 roses for mothers day, one for each year missed. My birthday is coming up in a month, and I guess I would be touched by it. Then again, I have been a bit sappy over the whole thing.

My birth mother told me that she has a scrapbook and many years of birthday presents put aside for me. I would be thrilled to recieve anything from her.

Thanks to all of you for your responses. I guess I'm a little worried that my bson, his wife and the aparents will think that I'm over doing it for his birthday.

My bson said he had a great childhood and he does have wonderful aparents but he can't remember ever having a birthday party, sleepover or anything like that growing up for his birthday. All he remembers is a family dinner.
I felt a little sad hearing that.

The box arrives tomorrow and hopefully he will read the instructions that are in the box! I know some of the gifts my grandsons will get after he opens them. ( like the remote control car for his 16th birthday and the training pants for his 2nd) But I think that is all a bonus for me!!
