Support for Spouses of Searching Adoptees
Does anyone know if there is any support out there for the spouses of searching Adoptees? My hubby just started his journey to find his bmom a little over two weeks ago. After a short 11 day search he found her and they've been exchanging email and a couple of phone calls. He has since become addicted to the F5 key (Refresh key). While this is an amazing story and I'm so very pround of my hubby for being so brave to do this search it's been an emotional roller coaster for us both. Anyway there are a lot of emotions the spouses are going through during this journey. Anyone out there experiencing this?

Hi strong1777, I think it would be a great idea for a thread dedicated to spouses of adoptees! Maybe my dh could log on! Seriously tho' he has been great overall, but there are times his puzzled look kind of 'gives it away' while he tries ever so hard to listen and and be supportive. So happy for your hubby, although you're right most of that roller coaster is full and the lineup to ride is getting longer by the minute, but we have tickets... I'll bump this up I think they're are some spouses that can surely relate! Keep posting! Welcome!

Thanks Rose! I think sometimes the spouses get lost in the shuffle, as our adoptee spouses get caught up in their search and/or reunion. We spouses are going through some big emotions too because we care about them. In the reunion arena I'm now wondering what changes this is going to make in our family dynamics and how I can be supportive when there is so much back and forth emotions coming from him. Anyway just some thoughts for today.

Well if you get a chance to read some of the posts regarding reunions and the emotions surrounding them it may give you a feel as to what some of us have experienced. However it goes without saying every situation is different. I would guess too, perhaps the varying ways women versus men and how they choose to express and cope might factor in. For me, sometimes I wanted to talk and share what I was feeling while other times I would need space to process it all. It's still that way, but hugs were always welcomed, and it reassured me. In the meantime this is a truly supportive group here.

support for all spouses : )
Hi' It seems all spouses....(I am the spouse of a reunited bfather) need support.
We come with our own questions, fears and all of those emotions that come with adoption through reunion and the whole journey inbetween. I search on a regular basis and post sometimes, many people are always happy to respond to your questions. It would be nice to see a thread for us.....but once you learn to navigate the forums and threads you can find all sorts of answers. You are welcome to send me a pm if you want to. Good luck. Remeber this is one place you are never alone. Karen

Strong, what wonderful news! He is lucky to have you by his side during this wonderful time in his life.
My husband went through something a lil similar a few years ago. He has a sister that he didn't know about. She was searching for her biological father. My husband has the same name as his father, well .. except the Jr. part. lol But it was too late. Their father had passed away a few years prior. Best of luck and keep us posted. Judy
