It has been so long since I touched this thread but Fathers Day was very special since being reunited with my father 4/25/04. I had the opportunity to meet with several special fathers on fathers day. I had to distribute the prison mail at work today. It was so touching watching grown and young men open up their mail on fathers day........... My message for that entire day was you must make better life decisions and be out from behind these bars and be there for your family and your children. This was sealed with my usual humor and a sincere Happy Fathers Day.
It's amazing how a little child's drawing is treasured and showed off to others in the housing areas. It just bring back the memories of all the Fathers Day cards I made but was never able to send since our records were sealed and had no way of knowing an address to send it to. I still say that it's amazing that what ever poor decision that leads a person into the prison system, that persons child is the one who suffers the most since they are too young to understand why their family member was taken out of their life. A child never forgets and I speak from experience. I remember when my fathers last visit at the New York Foundling telling my sister and I he was going away for a long time and to never let anyone separate us. This was 27 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. All I could think of was my Daddy being locked in a cage like an animal. People ask me why I decided to go into this profession and I tell them you will take desperate measures to find the one you love. A song the sums up everything is the song by Alicia Keys "If I Aint Got You!!!!!!! That song sums up everything and I have dedicated it to my Daddy............. Be safe and hug, kiss, and talk to your child today. It really makes a difference and be a good listener. You will be surprise at what your child will say if you open a good line of communication. Keep the kids off the count....... ------------------------------------------------------------ Miltdaddy (Bringing People Together) Adoptee Reunited with Daddy 4/25/04 "Stay Focused" |
