We called them Nina and Joanie.....correct names are Rowena and Johnie...... we lived in Ferndale at the time on Leroy Street and had them sometime from about 1962 to about 1964 and they were adopted out in the summer before school started.....they were about 3 and 4 years old when they came to us and 4 and 5 when they left. The adopted parents from the Redford, Michigan area also had another adopted girl about 7-8 years old. The adoption told Mom she could visit and send the girls birthday cards and presents, but they lied! Mom cried when she found out that they would no longer have any connection to them. She loves those girls dearly. They came from an abusive family Mom always wanted girls......she was hoping to adopt them, but alas, they went to parents with more money to raise them. So, if you know of them or someone who knows them, please let them know we are looking!
