Does this email addy look familiar? Help
Hi everyone,
I just received an email from "adoptionxsearcher@yahoo.com" who thinks she may be my daughter. DOB she offered was exact, Hospital was exact, time of birth was 2 minutes off, weight was 2 oz off, and she knew the attorneys name that handled the adoption. The email addy made me go "huh?" Does this look familiar to anyone else, is this a possible scam, can any one advise? This person offered no adopted name, or any other info. Any help, advice would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch! Tammie

How much of that info had you posted? When I first got my email, I thought the same thing, so many freaks out there just wanting to mess with people, but the information he gave me and the information I found on my own seemed to jive. If she knew things you hadn't posted anywhere, I would look into it a little more. You can find out almost anything on the internet. I found out an ex boyfriend of mine had been arrested for soliciting a prostitue !!! Good thing I had kicked him to the curb. Good luck, How fast is your heart pounding?

Tammie, just maybe.......It's possible she was hesitant to e-mail you with her "real" e-mail address and created one to use. That would explain the wording, but go carefully and I hope this is real! Love, Debi

..........about 90 miles a minute (present heart rate)LOL I have to say I am rather excited, but I am also rather leary. Most of the info she gave was or has been posted...soooo, that is no help. I guess I will just have to ride this out and see where it leads. IF you have any suggestions on questions I could ask her when and if she emails me again, please advise. Thank you so much for your support!! Tammie

She emailed me at an old account, I have gone back and changed my email account on every single post. I changed accounts because the one she emailed me at was to close down today....weird huh?
Thanks Tammie

Tammie, are you aware of anything she couldn't have learned from your postings? Like birthmarks or something? There HAS to be a way to be sure, short of DNA testing! Is the lawyer still alive? If so, maybe you could both contact him to verify the family name, I will keep thinking! Love, Debi

Update
Hiya Deb,
I do have one "secret weapon" hehehehe. She sent me another email and said she was going to send me a picture when she got home from school. Trying not to project here, but who knows maybe this is legit. Will just have to wait and see....and try to keep calm hehehehe I appreciate all of your help, and value you input! Thanks Tammie

I hope this is the real thing for you. I don't know how long you have been searching, but doesn't it all seem surreal that "Gosh this is it! All that time/effort has finally paid off" My search start to finish was EXACTLY 1 month to the day (How odd is that?!) but I'm still walking around in a daze.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. and remember to just go slow, whatever happens needs to be done when it's right for you and when it is comfortable. That's whats hard for me, is that I'm a twin, I don't really have that ability. |

Well Jeez Tammie, imagine getting freaked out about something as HUGE as this!!!! This is a biggie. I so hope it works out! If she is a minor, I hope her a-parents are on board, so that doesn't become a big obstacle. baby steps....Love, Debi

It is just sooooo dang intense... I thought I was prepared in the event this happened, that I knew just how I would react. I have no expectations, but I am still so anxious about it, kinda excited and also cautious, ya know....I am trying very hard not to project or think to much LOL My head is like a bad neighborhood, I have no business going there alone LOL I am so glad I have you all to share this with, it is a great help, and keeps me grounded.
Thanks so much! Tammie

and my mind has more issues then a magazine rack. I know, when I talked to my sbiblings the other day, I had rehearsed over and over again what I would say and how it would go. Wrong, good thing I'm not an actrees, now Oscar for me! Here's a tip, take very good notes. have a pen and pad with you to jot things down. Keep them with you for referance and clairty. I know it sounds stupid but when the time comes for phone calls, write a script, that's what I did so when and if the birthmom ever calls me the important stuff with be asked and told cuz the brain will be spinning and you will forget to ask/tell stuff.

Thanks Laura
I think taking notes is a good idea, for more reasons that one. It will help me remember details and also give me some on hand info to compare. I just want to make sure before I get to involved in this, ya know? Thanks so much for all your help and suggstions!
Thanks Tammie

I just got an e-mail this morning from a birth mother who's information matches that of mine; she has the birth date, adoption date and city correct but the name's a little off...I'm wondering if it's a scam...the address was adoptionxsearcher@yahoo.com...I sent her an e-mail, she hasn't replied yet.
Do you think it's just a search engine? Or is somebody messing with us?

Tammie...
Keeping notes is a great idea. I wish as an adoptee I had done that. I was adopted as an older child and was in foster care so I knew who my Bparents were. I just wish I had kept notes when I talked to them. Over the years the stories have changed so I wish now I could have the notes to fall back on. Tracy |
