I am searching for my birth sisters who were born and adopted in Illinois.

Birth names: Melissa and Melanie Abernathy
Birth Parents: Gerald and Elizabeth Abernathy
Birth siblings: Patrick 10/62(was not given up for adoption)
Barb 5/64 (born and adopted in Maryland)
Birth dates: I can only post a range...birth mom was in abusive
relationship with birth dad and cannot remember
Span of 1965 to 1968
Sisters had strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes...eyes may
have changed...mine are brown
Sisters were in foster care for a while before they were adopted.
I am hoping that the older sisters name is still the same and will check out my post and recognize something.
Birth mom slightly remembers ending up at a police station and having the girls taken from her...with the understanding that if she could get on her feet that she could have them back. She then fled to California and that is where DCFS found her and had her sign over the girls. She could not get on her feet fast enough and DCFS told her that it would be in the sisters best interest to be adopted. So she signed the papers in California. I am assuming that a lawyer was involved some how. I was born and adopted in Maryland so sisters would never know about me. I am currently using the DCFS in Illinois to search for them.

I meant to post a picture of myself to the above. Here it is. This picture was taken of me at graduation...I feel it is a good base of what I look like....of course I am older now but the facial structure is the same...the eyes and even the hair color.

I am sorry that you received the information that you did but I can assure that it does not tell the whole story. I would like an opportunity to tell my story. I understand your desire for privacy and your concern for your children and I am willing to work through third parties if that would make you more comfortable.
