I was born June 14, 1958 in Mobile, Alabama. My adoption, through the state of Alabama, took place in Montgomery in December 1958. I have non-identifying information about my birthmother and associated people.

In Alabama an adoptee over the age of 19 can now obtain a copy of their original birth certificate with the names of their birthparents. Contact the adoption agency that handle your adoption or the office below:

Applicants must clearly state that they are seeking their original birth record prior to adoption. Without that information they will send the current legal record. Complete a request for a Pre-Adoption or Other Birth Certificate from the Center for Health Statistics.

Mobile County Probate Court has an online service. You can get some public records there. If she married, or had a house, you can find it online. If you cannot access the original document, it will be on micro fiche in the old county courthouse.

Have you gotten your original birth certificate yet? (Was at the office on Monday, and a young lady was getting her original along with her corrected. Wasn't hard, and she only had a 20 minute wait.)

Yes, I got my original a month or so ago. No luck tracking the name listed as natural mother yet.
