I was born 7-11-70 in albany NY. Adopted through catholic Charities of buffalo ny. (adopted in 71 sibling female adopted 2 yrs prior Denise Good luck on your search!

You need to register with the New York State Adoption Registry through the NYS Department of Health. A registration form is available online, or you can call 518-474-9600 and have one sent to you. If your daughter is also registered, she will be notified that you have registered. If she has not registered, it will be good to have your info. available for her when/if she does. Also, even if she is not registered, you may be able to get some limited information. I have been assisting my friend in her search in New York for a while, and have expolred many different avenues. I was born and adopted in NY...So was my sister. Her birthmom contacted her for the first time last Sunday and they found each other through Adoption.com. I am so happy for her. And best of luck to you. Just remember, If it were not for you, we would not be here.

Dear Birth Mother,
The information you gave was minimal. I am a female adoptee, and I'm wondering if your child was born in New York or elsewhere, and in what month and year was she born? You might want to give a little more info. for readers. You probably have much more information that you could use to determine if someone responding is legit. I was born on April 30, 1963. I believe I was born in Omaha, Nebraska. I was definitely adopted out of a Lutheran organization in Omaha. Thank you and good luck. (AJdgr8t@aol.com)

If you leave details about your daughter's birth - the date, the hospital, etc. your chances of locating her or someone who can put you in touch with her will increase greatly. Also register with the NYS Health Dept.'s state-wide adoption registry as soon as possible - if your info matches someone else's, you'll both be contacted - plus, it's free! Good luck...
