DORI 103160 -Searchng for Birth Parents.

I recently joined Adoption.com. I am a Male Adoptee searching for my Birth Parents. I was born 10/31/1960 at 1:01 AM in Paterson New Jersey at Paterson General Hospital - I think either the hospital or agency maned me baby Danny. My birth Mother was 35 years old at the time of my birth, of Italian ancestry and was divorced in 1958, she had 3 Children born 1949 (Boy),1951 (Girl), and (Girl) 1953. Birth Mothers Father emigrated from Italy and was a Shoemaker; he died of pneumonia 12 years before my birth. Birth Mothers Mother was also an immigrant from Italy. Birth mother has Sister how died as a result of explosion in 1937 – Birth mothers family of Italian Protestant Faith.

Birth Father was Jewish and a Chemist who worked at an oil Company (Possibly in NJ), he had a brother who was a Physician.

Was adopted through the Children’s Aid and Adoption Society in South Orange NJ – on May 5th 1961. – Got all of this information from a background letter.. Would like to meet Birth Parents and Siblings – I understand this will take time and only would meet if Birth Family members would be comfortable.

Dori,

You might want to start with the following:

New Jersey Adoption Laws

You might be able to get some more information from the State about your adoption.

Also, you should put a listing in the registry if you have not done so already.

Adoption Registry - Records, Reunion Registries, Adoptees, Search, Reunite, Birth Mother, Father, Pa

Not everyone reads the forum. This should increase your chances in finding them.

If you do come up with some more information I could help you locate them.

Good Luck!!!

Tom

Tom,

Thank you for your advice and in responding back to me regarding the Birth Father thread, once I come up with, hopefully, more information via your recommendation I would be able to provide more detail.

As it stands now, the only information I have is by way of a background letter recently sent to my by the Children’s Aid and Adoption Society, now named the Children’s Aid and Family Services inc in NJ.

That information I more extensive, but non identifying – regarding the Birth Mother – not the Birth Father – I took a stab at searching for the Birth Father by virtue of the Birth Mother background letter.

At this point the only information I have regarding the birth Father is as follows;

Birth Father was Jewish and a Chemist who worked at an oil Company (Possibly in NJ), he had two brothers, one who was a Physician. Birth Fathers Father was also a Chemist who owned a Business – at the time of my birth in October 1960 – my birth Father was 37 years old. He was not married to my Birth Mother – and in a relationship with her. They lived accords the street from each other. My Birth Father may not of even known I existed.

I do not know where they lived possibly New Jersey by virtue that I was born in Paterson General Hospital Oct 31st 1960 in New Jersey. I do not know even if my Birth Father or Mother were even residents of New Jersey, or if their families were even residents of new New Jersey.

I realize that I have started late in my search – and it may be possible they both birth parents my be deceased, but I will take you advice and post further, and review the NJ Adoption Laws which I know are kind of draconian.
