Question From the Far Side of Insamity

Okay - I know this is REALLY weird but I got into a conversation with someone this week, so...

Has anyone every used a psychic for any researh information? Or a medium to contact a deceased birthparent? If someone really "crosses over" but they've never even met you, would they or could they actually "come through" in a reading? You know - all of the John Edward stuff.

I am intersested in thoughts or stories for my own interest. It raised some curious discussion. Just for fun. Thanks,

Radiodoll

Talking Ghost Hunting

Hey Radiodoll! I'd say I'm a believer in that sort of thing - but I'm a wary believer!!!

For what it's worth, I've been a life-long ghost enthusiast with a christian outlook and here are my own personal beliefs:

I know when they are near because I'm sensitive.
I'm utterly fascinated by sincere ghost hunters who use scientific methods to prove their existence.
I do not try to provoke or make contact (unless they provoke me first!) but that's because I believe that the ghostly/spiritual realm IS "the waiting place" before all final judgment.
I believe that we die and then await judgment.
Those who are at peace, go on to a peaceful place within that realm to sleep/wait. Those who are not at peace and don't see the light are "troubled" and desperately trying to make things right before the end of days.
Now, the reason WHY I don't ever provoke spirits or actively call on them is because I once read a memoir from a spiritualist medium who had later become a baptized believer and he said that most people just don't see the danger. The danger, he said, is that demons can take on the appearance of long-lost loved ones JUST TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOU!!! It's not always the loved one though - it's something worse in disguise......
I believed his story and it coincides with God's biblical warnings about spiritualism. Maybe there was a "danger" issue? I believe that if we do it, acting on our free-will, we do it at our own risk.

I do understand that there are people in this world who ARE comfortable interacting with spirits. I know there are those who DON'T believe God's Word - to each his own - that's just God-given free will.......so please regard this post as just my own observation.

However, if I were personally trying to contact a spirit, I would meditate and use "thought only" as opposed to saying anything out loud - I would go to a place that I knew that person was fond of or had been to - if that person had a favorite food or flower, I would bring it with me......meaning, I would do everything humanly/spiritually possible to attract that person's essence, to attract ONLY that person's spirit without ever having to say a word.......or without opening a door to anyone else.
I think if someone departed has something to say to us, we'll hear it if we're really listening. I do believe spirit to spirit communication is real. I also believe that many of us are more "in tune" with each other than we know or admit - the vibe is just stronger in some than in others, kind of like the genetic hand that we're dealt, we each have varying degrees of spiritual sensitivity. At least that's how I see it. I just have to have a rational explanation to wrap my mind around.

It's like my belief in God - I look around at our world, at the perfect natural order/balance, the perfect mathematical order of insect and plant life and there's nothing that can convince me that it was all just an accident. It sounds pre-planned, to me, by one with superior wisdom.
Oh what a difference a few degrees can make in the over-all scheme of things - we're only just learning that one. Have any idea what a difference a tiny tilt of our axis would make?
No one's answered those musings for me - how something so right and logical could've just "happened" without the will of a supreme creator......

So, my story: I believe in ghosts - I believe in God. I believe it's all just a huge battle of good v/s evil and that love will conquer.
I even believe dragons once roamed the earth.......
Proud to be weird!!!!!

LOLOLOLOL

You cheered me up today! I also am a Christian and a bit of a spiritual believer, as well. I am wary also. For some of the same reasons and for other reasons. I did have an experience once that was completly unplanned and utterly on target with a spiritual medium who kinds scared me, actually. But it was SO in-depth and specific that I really couldn't deny that it was taking place. I was traveling in the southwest and spontaneously decided to go along on an appt for a "reading" that my host had made prior to to visit. The medium ended up calling me out of the car where I was waiting and doing a HUGE reading for me on the spot. it was long. And it was alot about my adoption which my host knew nothing about. It was bizarre. I was thinking about this lately in reference to something else and wondered if anyone had ever used "contact" to obtain info abd such. Just curious. I enjoyed your post. Thanks!!! And Merry Christmas.

Psychic mediums can definitely contact birth parents.

There is a great section in George Anderson's book Walking in the Garden of Souls where George (the medium) is sitting with his friend Dan, and Dan's birth father appears. You can find the passage on Amazon -- search within the book with the word "adopted" -- passage is on pages 84 - 86. Gives me goosebumps to think about it.

In one of James Van Praagh's books, he recounts how a woman showed up in a reading who said she was the man's mother, and the man didn't even know at the time that his birth mother had died (his dad remarried and never told him the "mother" who was raising him was not his birth mother).

Truly it is amazing stuff!!! I am a firm believer that life does not end with death, and I also believe in reincarnation and other kooky ideas. I have a big collection of New Age books, but I am really quite rational. I was in the audience during the filming of several episodes of James Van Praagh's old tv series Beyond, and I have to say that he is the real thing!!! He was reading people who had been waiting in the same line as I was, and he was so right on. Unfortunately, I was never called, but I do believe that my birth parents are both with me in spirit. I have never had a personal experience, but based on my reading, I know that to be true. It gives me comfort and sense of purpose.
