Does anyone know if you have to be licensed to search for people and get paid for it???

If you have to be licensed, how do you go about doing that?

I have found my biological grandfather on my own, to get my aunt and mother's phone numbers.

I found my husband's 1/2 brother, he never met, that my father in law hadn't seen in 30 yrs.

I found my father in law's wife's brother she hadn't seen in about 40 yrs.

I just found a church membet's daughter's biological father.

My husband thinks this may be my calling, and could provide income to the family.

What does anyone think?

In most stares, if you are going to make money at this you need a private investigators lincense.

The requirements vary from state to state, but could include classes, a test, a FBI background check, being fingerprinted etc.

Also you'll need what every other business must have lincenses, federal and state tax numbers, insurance etc.

Check with your states attorney general's office.
