Please Help - New searcher - Confused
Hello,
I am an adoptee that recently decided to look for her bparents. I put my profile on this website last week, and within a few days had quite a bit of information from a kind woman that was willing to help me. I know both of their names, know where they went to high school (which was actually the high school I attended, how bizarre is that??), I know the state and city where my bmother lives, and may actually have her phone number. I found them both on classmates.com, and emailed them. The emails have not yet been read. My problem is that I'm not sure the emails ever reached them. Now, I just don't know what to do. My friends say I should call the phone number, but what in the world would I say??? She has a life, has children, who knows if her new family knows about me, what if she really doesn't want to talk to me...the questions and fears are endless. Anyway, I'm just not sure how to proceed. If anyone has been here or has any suggestions for me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!! |

I am also in a similar situation. I found a cousin that could be of some help in locating my birth father or the rest of my family. I also had a woman from this board send her an emailon classmates.com. I'm not sure if my cousin has even checked her messages. This waiting period is killing me. I have also tried other resources in the meantime. You could also try other sources such as reunion.com and ancestry.com. It's just a shot in the dark but who knows you may get lucky. Good luck in your searches. God Bless~marlene

I can tell you that as a member of classmates IF they pick up their email (sent through classmates) you will get an email from classmates saying "Your classmates email has been read".
If you don't get that then they didn't read it. The only way to read email is if you are a paying member. Best of luck, Wendy

Search Group
Check with a local search and support group. They have people who can help you make the call. They often know jsut what to say.

Classmates.com They can read it once, but can not reply unless they are a paying member. So if you are a paying member and you send an email through classmates.com... be sure to include your e-mail address in the e-mail!!!!

I have a classmates account, and even if the person you are sending it to is not a member they can reply back one time only. But it is still wise to put your addy in the e-mail. Jennie

I too was unaware of that. That they can read and respond once.
Will the sender still get an email letting them know that the email was read?

Another possiblity is to do a google search on the phone number you have. If you type in the phone number it may well bring up the address so that you could write a letter. Kathy
