HELP finding marriage liscence from 1966?

Hi there! I just got information yeterday that my bmother had 2 children in Arizona. The first on in Jan. 1964 and the second one in Jan. 1966. She was going through a divorce when she gaveup the baby in 1966. Any ideas on how/ where to find the marriage liscence. Her maiden name was Dottye L. Robertson.
Any help or direction would be great!
Thanks
Wendy

Hello,

In most states marriage & divorce is public record. You have to apply for a marriage licence, back then possibly blood test to get married.
You could start at the CLERK OF COURTS IN THAT STATE there should be a divorce decree as well as marriage licence.
With her name you should have some good luck.
Hope this helps

What if?

What if all I know is the year the marriage took place and the wifes maiden name? I do know that she also got divorced within the same year. Will this little bit of info get me what I need? I don't even know what city....just Arizona.

I found this: Arizona is a "closed record" state. That means that vital records are not public record.

but... try searching http://www.searchsystems.net/list.php?nid=15 that site has some GREAT links for info. I gotta run home but I used to live in AZ. You can try Maricopa county (Phx), Coconino Count (Flagstaff), and I forget tucson's county.

Let us know if you find success!

Close.......

Well those were both fun and good links but they didn't get me what I need. Mostley didn't go back far enough. Not sure where to go from here. I keep getting more clues as to more sibilings and on my bfather and I thought the 14 years of searching for my bmother was tough!!!! Ugh!!!

arizona

I do not wish to argue with anyone but a marriage license is not a vital record - a death and birth certificate are. I would spend the money and call one county court and simply ask how one would obtain a copy of a marriage license for a parent. They are ususally listed by both the girl's maiden name and the man's name. If they ask why say you are doing some family history research. I have pulled many licenses this way in my genealogy research some back as far as 1859.
