Hi!

I am Ashley, I was born Nov. 8, 1983 in Chico CA (that's Butte County). I was adopted right at birth, by my family. My mom's name was Suzanne Nickles at the time of the adoption.

I am now a mother (and wife) myself, and it's become so important to me to find my biological family. I would like to know these people, and learn my medical history.

Here is what I know for sure:

My biological mom was Susan Wood. Her maiden name was Susan Kessel, but she changed her last name to Wood during the adoption process. I don't know what her birthday is.

She was married to a Randall Wood, in December of 1976 in Douglas, NV. I do not know if they are still married. As far as I know, he is not my biological father, but again I am unsure.

She had at least three children before me. I only know of one's name though: Andrew Joseph Wood, born in Butte County, CA on August 13, 1981. He is my older half-brother. My mom recalls meeting at least two other children, but there may have been more. My mom recalls one of them might have been a little older when I was born - maybe 8 or 9 years old. Unfortunatly, she doesn't remember anyone's name.

When I was approximately 6 months old, Susan called my mom and told her she was pregnant again, and asked if my mom was willing to adopt another baby. Unfortunatly, my mom was not able to, so I don't know what happened to this baby. I don't know if it was born, if it was adopted out or aborted.

Have you tried the Searchbug People Finder?

I plugged in Andrew Wood in California - 15 matches. Plugged in Randall Wood - 4 in California, 0 in Nevada.

You might want to consider sending letters to these people, stating you are doing a geneology-type search and ask if they would be willing to share information about their family. One may turn out to be a match.

I actually did a white pages search ... and I actually called quite a few Andrew Woods. Got a couple message machines and few no answers, but for the most part, no luck. As for Randall Wood, he is not my biological father, so it would be strange to call him. I did find out he was married at least two other times after being married to my biological mother though.

Being an ex-husband, Randall Wood may be a good lead as where to find your mother and possibly your brother. Exes tend to keep track of where there ex-wives or husbands are (especially if they have children together, which is a possibility).

Do you have a middle name or initial for Susan? Or an approximate age? My guess on age would be 39-46 or so, based on her having 3 kids before you (assume she started at 15 and went 1 year apart, she was 18 when she had you). Any extra info to narrow down the search would help.

If not, I agree that the Andrew/Randall route is the best approach

Do you have a middle name or initial for Susan?
Yes, her middle initial is "G". Randall's middle initial was "P".

Or an approximate age?
My mom told me she was a bit older ... so she was somewhere between 30 and 45 when I was born. That would make her 51 - 66 now.
